Salto del Usero — a turquoise waterfall in Murcia

Salto del Usero is a beautiful natural spot in the northwest of the Region of Murcia, near the town of Bullas. Here, the Mula River forms a small waterfall that flows into a natural pool surrounded by striking rock walls. It is one of those places where crystal-clear turquoise water, sculpted rock formations and sunlight come together to create a truly photogenic setting.

What makes it special

The main attraction is a natural pool filled with crystal-clear water in an intense shade of turquoise. The waterfall, rounded rock formations and sunlight filtering through the narrow rocky gorge create a spectacular scene. On sunny days, the place looks particularly stunning, with the water glowing in shades of blue and turquoise.

In summer, visitors come here to swim and relax by the water. However, the water remains cold even on hot days. In spring and autumn, Salto del Usero is also a great spot for enjoying natural scenery and photography.

The area is officially protected as a Natural Monument, so visitors should respect the environment and follow the conservation rules in place.

Things to know before you go

Salto del Usero is a natural area rather than a developed swimming beach. The rocks can be slippery, so wear suitable footwear and take care when swimming. The water stays cold even in summer, which is worth bearing in mind if you plan to spend a long time in the pool.

If you choose the free car park, allow enough time for the walk to the waterfall. If you would rather walk less, the paid car park next to the site is the more convenient option.

Salto del Usero is well worth visiting for its remarkable beauty: crystal-clear turquoise water, naturally sculpted rock formations and striking interplay of light and shadow. Small but incredibly photogenic, this spot reveals a different side of Murcia, with cool river pools and impressive natural scenery.
