This hiking trail is located in a natural area near Navarrés and runs through the scenic Barcal gorge, known for its waterfalls and rich greenery.
Route description
Los Chorradores trail is a relatively easy and highly picturesque route, suitable both for a relaxed walk and for families. The path follows a stream that forms a series of small waterfalls and natural pools.
As you walk along the trail, you'll pass through shaded areas surrounded by dense vegetation — including Mediterranean shrubs, ferns, and moss — creating an almost tropical atmosphere. The combination of water and rock creates a microclimate that keeps the area cool even on hot days.
Waterfalls and natural pools
The main highlight of the route is its series of waterfalls, which give the place its name (“chorradores” refers to flowing streams of water). They are not large, but very atmospheric: water gently flows over the rocks, forming clear pools.
During the warmer months, many visitors stop here to cool off — some of the pools are suitable for swimming, although the water tends to be quite cold.
Cave and Barcal gorge
The route passes through the Barcal gorge — a narrow and scenic area with steep rocky walls. There is a small cave along the way that can be explored. It adds a sense of adventure, especially if you're visiting with children.
The rock formations, damp walls, and play of light create photogenic views almost at every turn.
Wildlife and nature
Despite the route’s compact size, you can encounter a variety of wildlife here. The area is home to lizards, turtles, foxes, owls, rabbits, and many other species.
It’s a great place to experience nature in a more vibrant and lush setting compared to typical dry Mediterranean trails.
