Path to the Albir Lighthouse through the Sierra Helada Natural Park

The Path to the Albir Lighthouse (Faro de l’Albir) is one of the most scenic and accessible walks on the Costa Blanca, running through the Sierra Helada Natural Park (Parque Natural de la Serra Gelada). This route is perfect for both seasoned travelers and families with children, offering a combination of a comfortable trail, sea panoramas, and unique nature.

Starting Point

The trail begins in the town of Albir, at the entrance to the natural park. There is free parking and an information center where you can learn about the flora, fauna, and history of the lighthouse.

Sierra Helada Natural Park

Sierra Helada is a mountain range stretching along the coast between Benidorm and Altea. The park is famous for its cliffs, rising up to 300 meters above sea level, rare plants, and rich birdlife — here you can spot falcons and seagulls.

Route to the Lighthouse

  • Length: about 5 km round trip
  • Surface: paved road, no steep climbs
  • Time: 1.5–2 hours with stops
  • Difficulty: easy

Along the way, you’ll find viewpoints with breathtaking views of Altea Bay, the Mediterranean Sea, and Benidorm Island. One of the bends features a small balcony overlooking impressive cliffs.

Albir Lighthouse

Built in 1863, the lighthouse still guides ships in these waters. Today, it houses a small museum with photographs and materials about the region’s maritime history. Admission is free.
